I still don’t have time to sit and pontificate. Believe me when I say I’m disappointed with my output this year.
But here’s a thought: what’s next with Austin?
As our institutions have grown in recent years, AMOA, Arthouse & Blanton are all in different stages of getting new homes and our artist run spaces are growing up, Bolm has become Big Medium & Camp Fig into Okay Mountain, there’s a new crop of spaces to keep an eye on.
MASS Gallery has been around for a while, they can be viewed as a project space.
Co-Lab has been around for a couple of months.
The space formerly occupied by Camp Fig and now formerly l_m_n_l, is now The 5th.
And a new space is opening this month, 1305 Position.
The world has shifted. How will local artists respond?
With the state of Austin’s space/development/real estate situation, I assumed more public and green art would arise, like Austin Green Art.
