Perspectivas – Volitant
The show was disappointingly thin. It was very outstretched and thus incomprehensible. BAD
6.07 Works – SVT Gallery
Very dreamy work. The paper work was quiet and the paintings immediately loud. Both were cryptic and I wish I could break into them more. They were just missing that element to push them into grandness. Although I enjoyed it, the show felt sophomoric. NOT BAD
RE-Vision Riot – Pump Project Gallery
I got another chance to see what was done at Vision Riot. It was very welcome. Three times as much art was up for viewing. NOT BAD
Skoteshine – MASS Gallery
It was something. Where I’m not interested as much by ceramics and photography, I just plain have trouble understanding video and performance. And that’s what was here. The show described the history of the artists collaborations, but was topped off with a musical performance. It was like karaoke. I’m not one for live musical performances, so I was immediately put off by it. It was pretty garish, not unlike a bar hallway. ?
In Pictures – Fielding Lecht
Last show and it featured photos from some documentary. Sounded unrelated to there stated purpose. I didn’t bother.
Power Craft – WTW
I, along with other folks, was expecting “hookers” and “soft porn.” Got a little taste but then it turned into some street postering. It was a nice try, but was not successful. NOT BAD
AVAA Turns 30! – DAC
Wonderful celebration of artists in Austin. Runs the gamut, but definitely better. Even the more mundane forms held a proud character. NOT BAD
Summer Show – Lora Reynolds
I don’t think I made this one?
Interchange: An Exhibition in Three Parts – CRL
Return to structure? There was an agenda at foot and I was liking the sparse layout. Being told that this was the first of three parts, I hold out on my opinion.
I’ll tell you ’bout what I sees.
