Will wonders never cease?
My hard drive went bye-bye. Of course I decided to write directly to the computer as opposed to my blog-saving habit. And no backup! when will I learn?
Updated March calendar again.
Thursday looks like a UT night. Viewpoint then Gallery 3. But there is also a New Urbanism discussion at the Erwin Center [via]. I’ve been thinking and grimacing at recent developments with their gentrification and hefty price tags and dislocating of locals for a more generic, whitewashed, stratifying population. But I’m for progress, so I wish I could make it over there and take a listen. Maybe I should go to the library and read up on this New Urbanism?
Three weekends left for you to catch the Texas Biennial. And I’ve read one review for each week that already past. …might be good, Austin American Statesman, and San Antonio Current. I like Elaine Wolff’s assessment. I was hoping there’d be more talk about it across the state. I mean, I know three hours is a little bit of a hassle to look at some art (but I know plenty of people that make the trek to Dallas, Houston and Marfa without regret). I also know that local papers would probably prefer to cover their city’s happenings. But where are the bloggers at? Where’s the discussions on Glasstire or Cantanker?
Partly because of my computer situation and partly because of Lindy Aleshire (scroll about a quarter of the way down to March 5), I will begin to recreate and post what I was working on in terms of a review for the Biennial.
I’ll tell you ’bout what I sees.
