So I went to Dallas this past weekend and managed to check out three galleries while there.
Marty Walker Gallery – Contemporary Asian art looks much like contemporary art elsewhere. They look good, they just throw a big ole question mark on worldwide art practices/studies.
Conduit Gallery – Four shows in one: Kirk Hayes, Al Souza, Carrie Marill and Michael Krueger. Carrie Marrill’s body of work was my favorite, but Al Souza’s Braille pieces were my favorite individual works. I was impressed with all of the works.
MFA – Miguel Cortez and Edra Soto from Polvo plus John Held Jr. I’m not sure what to make of Edra Soto’s firework explosion? But, Miguel Cortez’ landscapes were interestingly codified. Suggesting both history and digital/map making. John Held collages were just as colorful yet did not sense any other relationship.
It wasn’t until I was well on my way to the zoo when I thought, “Damn. I should’ve taken pictures.”
The adoption went well. The girls are home and adjusting okay. I guess you could call them twins. I mean they were born on the same day to the same mother. The house is full of females as they outnumber me six to one, now. This is not what I meant when I wished I was popular with the ladies!
I’ll tell you ’bout what I sees.
