So what I wanted was to follow up the topic about artists taking back their profession. If you listen to the Bad At Sports podcasts and read their blog’s comments, they are commended for being among the forces revitalizing Chicago’s art scene. They are artists. Artists providing services that the community needed.
In my opinion, they not only provided some critical discourse, but added a forum in which to transfer ideas, present different perspectives. I am trying to do a little bit of that here. But I have to play bad cop to be really effective and I can only present my singular perspective. Here in Austin I believe there is an opportunity for that in a relatively new resource.
Austin has graduated from being forced to promote more established artists in order to present a lively scene. There are now more layers of artists in town. Different stages of education and of careers. What’s great is that each of those layers can have a voice. How’s that saying go? “Though my voice may crack…” or something like that.
I’ll tell you ’bout what I sees.
