So I quickly drive up to Airport Blvd. to get another look at the show at the Space and I am met wth a darkened gallery with a bunch of junk. I was under the impression that the show was gonna be up until the end of the month. Here is another show I can’t fully review. But I will give some vague impressions of it.
As I recall, all the work was assemblage. Mostly made of wood, paintings and stools/sculptures looked the same. The same paint, wood and construction was used. I did not get a real good look, but I do remember being attracted to the sculptures on the floor. There was a hint of functionality while looking decrepit and unsafe to sit on. The textures of the woods were the strongest elements in determining my relationship to the pieces.
According to my memory, I did not like the work. But like I said, I didn’t get a good look and I wanted to go back and study them. So I have committed my honest reaction, but I refuse to rate the show. Without a valid assessment of the work I am unable to declare an opinion.
I saw the work, but not really. I tried to look again, but couldn’t. I try to remember, but its fuzzy.
I’ll tell you ’bout what I sees.
